Prepare for WoW Forever dungeons with a group plan that fits the current beta. This guide covers how to choose an instance, form a party, prepare your character, and make a run smoother. Dungeon availability and tuning can change during beta, so confirm details in the game and Blizzard’s latest notes before traveling.
Updated October 4, 2026. Blizzard’s October 1 beta update raised the level cap to 30 and added Wetlands Excavation Site (26–31), Razorfen Downs (25+), and Uldaman (30+). Blizzard also adjusted dungeon quest experience. Use those details as a current snapshot, not a permanent leveling rule.
Choose a dungeon for your group
Start with the WoW Forever dungeon hub to find instance guides, then check the current in-game level recommendation. A dungeon that looks close to your level may still be uncomfortable if the group is undergeared, unfamiliar with the route, or missing tools for crowd control and recovery. Ask what the group wants from the run: quests, exploration, gear, or practice.
Consider travel time, too. Decide who can summon or meet the party, and whether everyone knows the entrance. Keep the leveling guide nearby if you want to combine an instance trip with nearby outdoor quests. The current beta has opened content in stages; don’t plan a route around unreleased areas as if they were live.
Build a balanced, communicative party
Classic-style dungeons reward clear roles and steady communication. A typical group benefits from a character who can hold enemy attention, characters who can heal, and damage dealers who watch threat and respond to mechanics. Exact class tools and balance are subject to beta tuning. Before starting, ask who will mark targets, who will lead pulls, and how the group wants to handle patrols or unexpected extra enemies.
- Tank: explain when you are ready to pull; gather enemies where the group can manage them.
- Healer: let the party know when mana is low or a pause is needed.
- Damage dealers: focus marked targets, avoid pulling ahead, and use control or defensive abilities when needed.
- Everyone: share quest objectives, loot expectations, and any need to leave early before the first pull.
Before you enter
Repair, make room in your bags, bring appropriate food and water if useful for your class, and check that your gear is equipped. Read your active dungeon quests and make sure the group understands which objectives matter. If this is a first visit, tell the party; a short explanation is usually faster than a wipe caused by pretending everyone knows the route.
Make the run smoother
Move deliberately and let the tank establish control before using high-threat abilities. Watch for patrols, line-of-sight pulls, and enemies that can call for help. Use crowd control when it makes a pull safer, but agree on the target first. If a fight goes wrong, regroup and discuss one change for the next attempt instead of rushing into another pull.
Loot fairly and keep the group moving. If an item is a meaningful upgrade or a quest objective is unclear, ask. After a boss, check whether anyone needs to recover, turn in a quest, or confirm the next route before continuing.
After the dungeon
Review completed quests, repair, and note any drop or mechanic you want to remember. If the instance was too difficult, try again later with a stronger group or more levels; the best response is not always to repeat the same run immediately. Follow the raid hub for larger group content, and use the addons guide to decide whether optional interface or route tools suit your play style.
Dungeon preparation FAQ
Which dungeons are open in the beta right now?
Availability changes by beta phase. As of Blizzard’s October 1 notes, the level cap is 30 and new entries include Wetlands Excavation Site, Razorfen Downs, and Uldaman. Check the live client and current official notes for the full list.
Are old Classic level ranges and XP values reliable?
Use them only as background. WoW Forever beta tuning can differ; Blizzard has already changed dungeon quest XP. Trust current in-game information and official updates for decisions.
Do I need addons to run dungeons?
No. You can group, navigate, and play with the built-in interface. If you choose addons, verify compatibility and read the WoW Forever addons overview.
Continue with the dungeon directory or return to the WoW Forever Guides hub. Read Blizzard’s October 1 beta development notes for the latest confirmed changes.
