What is World of Warcraft: Forever?

Blizzard has announced Forever as a permanent home built around original Azeroth and the journey from level 1 to 60. Its focus is continued growth within the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor: new stories, places, rewards, and reasons to return to familiar roads. The announced design keeps flying mounts and level scaling out of the experience, placing more weight on travel, preparation, and cooperation. See the official What’s Next recap.

What shapes WoW Forever?

Blizzard describes four design pillars: Azeroth should feel familiar and approachable; the world itself should be the main character; the journey should matter as much as the destination; and the team should protect the social experiences that make a shared world meaningful. The Deep Dive connects those ideas to deliberate, tactical combat and systems built around meeting other players.

For a returning player, the useful starting point is your preferred adventure. Do you want to explore with a small group, build a raid roster, focus on battlegrounds, or take your time leveling? Choose that goal before chasing an early “best” build. Announced class and item changes mean old Classic assumptions deserve a fresh look.

Launch, beta, and the road ahead

Launch is announced for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. An active WoW subscription or Game Time provides access. Blizzard’s launch and upgrade announcement lists beta from September 17 through October 21, with access included in the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection. Skyborne race access and the Zephras Isle starting experience are included in optional upgrade packs; check the edition details before purchasing.

The official roadmap places raid unlocks on December 9, followed by Hardcore and further seasonal updates. Those later roadmap windows are plans, not exact release dates. Use our roadmap directory alongside release information and the beta page when planning your calendar.

Beta date discrepancy: the roadmap image displays October 22, while Blizzard’s written access announcement lists October 21. The end date needs clarification; do not rely on the extra day when arranging play time.

Regions and zones: choose your next destination

Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, Riverglades, and Zephras Isle headline the newly announced regions. They offer different entry points into the world: Hyjal’s recovery, ancient elven history, frontier communities, and a Skyborne beginning. Start in the regions directory, then use the zone index to find the location that interests you.

Build a flexible route around the friends you intend to play with. Agree on a meeting place, leave time for travel, and keep dungeon visits alongside questing rather than treating every level as a race. A zone’s announced story or level range is useful context, but it does not establish a tested fastest route.

Races and classes: plan a character you enjoy

The Skyborne choose Alliance or Horde at character creation. Both sides have Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid options; Alliance Skyborne also have Mage, while Horde Skyborne have Shaman. The official What’s Next panel explains that split and the broader aim of preserving distinct class identities.

Browse races and classes together. Start with faction, preferred role, and the kind of group you expect to join. Keep race availability separate from balance judgments: a revealed ability is evidence that an option exists, not proof that it will dominate at launch.

Dungeons and raids: get the group ready

The panel introduces nine new dungeons and two new raids, with Barrow Deeps designed for 10 players and Hyjal Summit for 20. Visit the dungeon directory for destinations and the raid directory for larger-group content. The roadmap also names Onyxia’s Lair in its December raid-unlock column.

Before committing your group to a schedule, separate the game’s launch from raid availability. Discuss roles, realistic session lengths, and how you want to handle discovery and spoilers. Encounter strategies, loot priorities, and composition advice need testing; announcement footage alone cannot settle them.

PvP and systems: more ways to play

Darkspear Islands is the announced 15-versus-15 battleground, with capture-and-defend objectives. Our PvP section is the entry point for battleground and reward coverage. Coordinate objectives and communication with your group before drawing conclusions from early class rankings.

The Deep Dive adds practical detail: campfires offer shared utility and one-hour buffs; Legacy adds challenge-earned points shared across characters and cosmetic or prestige rewards; and Blizzard says professions are receiving more than 600 new recipes. Itemization and class talents are also being revised, while the realm design shifts selection from individual realms to rule sets such as Normal, PvP, and RP, with Hardcore planned after launch. Follow the camping, Legacy, professions, itemization, and systems guides for details.

Race and class updates

Six new race and class combinations

The panel confirmed Gnome Priests, Human Hunters, Dwarf Shamans, Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, and Undead Paladins. These additions sit alongside broader racial and talent changes. Browse the races and classes guides before choosing a character; announced availability does not establish launch balance.

Official announcements describe Blizzard’s stated plans. Beta observations must identify when and on which test build something was observed. Unconfirmed details remain open questions. As of this September 14 update, beta has not begun; this hub does not claim hands-on beta findings or final build recommendations.
