WoW Forever Dungeons

World of Warcraft: Forever is bringing nine new dungeons to original Azeroth. Blizzard describes them as long-discussed places that let players explore corners of the world that previously existed only as hints, names, or imagined destinations. The announced list reaches under Ironforge, into the ruins of Lordaeron, above Whelgar’s Excavation, and across several other mysterious locations. This guide collects what is confirmed so far and marks the details that still need testing or an official reveal.

All nine announced WoW Forever dungeons

  1. Hall of Thanes — beneath Ironforge.
  2. Ruins of Lordaeron — a new dungeon in the remains of Lordaeron.
  3. Whelgar’s Excavation site — a mysterious excavation above Whelgar’s Excavation.
  4. City of Dalaran — described by Blizzard as a chaotic city.
  5. Blackmaw Hold — one of the newly named locations.
  6. The Drowned City — a submerged city on the announced list.
  7. Krol’Dok Stronghold — a stronghold newly brought into the dungeon lineup.
  8. Alcaz Prison — a prison in the new set of instances.
  9. Shaper’s Terrace — another long-discussed place that will become explorable.

Why these places matter to Classic Azeroth

Part of Forever’s premise is that familiar roads can lead to discoveries that were always just beyond the edge of the original adventure. A dungeon under Ironforge suggests a new way to explore a well-known capital’s foundations. Ruins and excavation sites invite questions about the people and events connected to those places. Dalaran’s inclusion makes an iconic city a place to adventure through, while names such as Blackmaw Hold and Shaper’s Terrace hint at regions that have not yet received full dungeon treatments.

That sense of discovery is also why it is useful to distinguish confirmed details from guesses. A dungeon name alone does not confirm its bosses, story, level range, entrance, party size, loot, or difficulty modes. Even when a place is familiar from Warcraft lore, its Forever version may tell a new story within this version’s early Azeroth timeline. We’ll add practical details once Blizzard publishes them or players can confirm them in the beta.

What is announced about the dungeon schedule?

World of Warcraft: Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026. Blizzard’s roadmap announcement separately says new raids unlock on December 9, followed by more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, and additional quests over time. That announcement does not give a separate date for each of these nine dungeons or describe a dungeon rotation. We therefore won’t assign an opening date to an individual instance until there is an official schedule.

The beta begins September 17, 2026, making it the first opportunity for eligible players to experience the game before launch. Beta content can change, so reports from testing should be labeled with their date and build. How to prepare for new dungeon content

Until instance requirements are published, prepare in ways that help across any group rather than following an invented checklist. Choose a class and role you enjoy, learn your core abilities, and decide whether you want to tank, heal, or deal damage in a party. If you have friends you plan to adventure with, agree on faction and group expectations early. The class guide and race and class compatibility guide can help you compare announced options.

When Blizzard releases beta or launch details, check whether an instance is intended for leveling or endgame, what level range it supports, and whether its difficulty options differ. Then review encounter abilities and loot from current sources instead of relying on guides for a different version of the game. We’ll update each dungeon entry as verified information becomes available.

Questions players are asking

Are all nine dungeons available at launch? Blizzard has named all nine as part of Forever’s new dungeon content, but has not provided an individual release schedule for them in the cited announcement.

Do we know the bosses or loot? Not from the current official dungeon overview. Boss lists, drops, mechanics, and recommended party setups should wait for more detailed information or beta confirmation.

Where can I track updates? Start with the WoW Forever hub and check the roadmap as Blizzard announces additional dates. This page will expand from a verified directory into a practical guide as the details become public.
