Which class fits the way you want to play World of Warcraft: Forever? The roster includes nine familiar classes, from weapon-focused frontliners to healers, spellcasters, stealth specialists, and shapeshifters. This overview explains each class’s core role and links directly to its guide. Forever keeps recognizable class identities while revising talents, abilities, and some race combinations; beta details can still change.
All nine WoW Forever classes
Warrior
Warriors rely on weapons, armor, and direct combat. Choose Warrior if you want to stand on the frontline, protect a group as a tank, or deal melee damage. Read the WoW Forever Warrior guide.
Paladin
Paladins combine armor and weapon combat with Holy magic. Their toolkit supports tanking, healing, and damage, letting you serve different group roles. Blizzard has discussed several Forever-specific Paladin changes, so see the Paladin guide for the current breakdown.
Hunter
Hunters fight at range with weapons, traps, and a beast companion. Pick Hunter if you enjoy positioning, ranged attacks, and coordinating with a pet. Forever adds the newly announced Human Hunter combination. Explore the Hunter guide.
Rogue
Rogues specialize in stealth, control, poisons, and precise melee attacks. Their strengths suit players who like choosing when to engage and using utility to shape a fight. Read the Rogue guide.
Priest
Priests support allies with healing and protection or turn to Shadow magic for damage. Choose Priest if you want a class with both strong group support and a distinct offensive path. Forever adds Gnome Priest to the announced combinations. See the Priest guide.
Shaman
Shamans call on elemental powers and totems for damage, healing, and group utility. They offer a flexible support identity shaped by the elements. Dwarf Shaman is newly confirmed for Forever. Browse the Shaman guide.
Mage
Mages command Arcane, Fire, and Frost magic, combining ranged damage with control. Mage suits players who want to manage spell choices and battlefield positioning. Forever adds Orc Mage, and Alliance Skyborne can also choose Mage. Read the Mage guide.
Warlock
Warlocks use curses, destructive magic, and demonic companions. Their toolkit gives them a darker caster identity with control and pet-based options. Forever adds Troll Warlock. Visit the Warlock guide.
Druid
Druids shapeshift and can fill flexible roles across tanking, healing, melee damage, and ranged spellcasting. Choose Druid if adapting to a group’s needs is part of the appeal. Skyborne Druids have race-specific forms announced. Explore the Druid guide.
What Blizzard has confirmed about class design
Blizzard describes Forever combat as deliberate and tactical: individual pulls matter, and groups benefit from crowd control, Threat management, and careful positioning. The announced talent direction includes a level-16 milestone, selected class buffs moving into baseline kits, and a goal for all 27 talent trees to be viable group choices. Those are design goals, not a promise that every build will perform identically.
Paladin has received the most detailed class-specific discussion so far, including changes across Holy, Protection, and Retribution. Other class details will become clearer as Blizzard publishes updates and beta testing progresses. Check current in-game tooltips and patch notes before treating any ability, talent, or ranking as final.
New race-and-class combinations
Blizzard highlighted six additional combinations: Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Gnome Priest, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin. Skyborne adds a faction split: Alliance Skyborne can choose Mage, while Horde Skyborne can choose Shaman; Druid, Hunter, Rogue, and Warrior are shared. The race and class compatibility guide has the complete announced roster, and the WoW Forever races hub links to every race guide.
How to choose your class
Start with the role you want in a group: tank, healer, melee damage, ranged damage, or flexible support. Then consider the moment-to-moment style—spells, stealth, pets, weapons, or shapeshifting. If you plan to play with friends, coordinate faction and check race restrictions before character creation. Avoid relying on rankings from another version of WoW; Forever’s talents and class tuning are evolving.

September 24 beta class changes
The latest public beta notes include class-specific tuning and bug fixes across the roster: healing spells that can critically heal, talent-row adjustments, revised cooldowns and proc rules, threat corrections, and class ability fixes. For the details that affect your class, see the Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior guides. Blizzard may revise beta values before launch; treat these as a dated snapshot, not a final build recommendation.
