Last updated: September 23, 2026. Darkspear Islands is a newly announced 15-versus-15 WoW Forever battleground off the coast of Kalimdor. Blizzard has confirmed its broad objective style, but has not yet published the full map rules, scoring, queue details, or reward list. This guide separates the confirmed information from details still to come.
What Blizzard has confirmed
In its WoW Forever: What’s Next panel recap, Blizzard describes Darkspear Islands as a new 15v15 battleground located off Kalimdor’s coast. The objective design combines strategic control points with flag captures and defense inspired by Arathi Basin.
That announcement gives players a useful outline: teams will need to move together, contest objectives, and protect captured ground. It does not describe the precise capture sequence or the final scoring rules, so those details should not be assumed from the Arathi Basin comparison.
Objectives and early team coordination
The confirmed control-point and capture-and-defense focus makes communication central to the format. A group can prepare by assigning players to watch objectives, calling when a point is contested, and regrouping before committing to a fight. These are general coordination principles based on the announced objectives, not a discovered map strategy.
What has not been published yet
The panel recap does not give a complete ruleset or guide for playing the battleground. We’ll add details after Blizzard confirms them. Open questions include:
- The complete map layout, named objectives, and travel routes.
- How captures score, how long objectives take, and what happens when an objective changes hands.
- Queue access, eligible character levels, match length, and matchmaking rules.
- Whether the battleground has additional restrictions or special mechanics.
- Honor, currency, item rewards, vendors, and any rating or weekly requirements.
Blizzard separately says battlegrounds can include players from different rulesets, except Hardcore. Read the official WoW Forever ruleset announcement for that broader PvP context. It does not specify the Darkspear queue or its rewards.
How to prepare without guessing
