What you need for the two mine quests
Book Return asks you to recover six Lost Books and the special book Fun with Elementals in Fargodeep Mine. Rare Books continues the search in Jasperlode Mine for Geomancy for Curious Young Wizards and Arcane Explainer: Magical Stuff in Simple Words. Plan for both caves to be dangerous for a low-level character. Bring a friend if the enemies are giving you trouble, and check their levels before committing to a deep pull.
Fargodeep Mine: find Nimsy and finish Book Return
Inside Fargodeep Mine, collect the six Lost Books while you work toward the named kobold Nimsy. The important book, Fun with Elementals, comes from Nimsy; Wowhead commenters specifically warn not to confuse him with Goldtooth. One player’s route note says to enter from the upper entrance, continue to the large room, then head east and curve north up the stairs, where Nimsy is with several henchmen. Treat that as a helpful route clue rather than a guarantee that every pull will be safe.
Keep the Book Bag from the quest in your inventory, and check the quest tracker as you loot so you do not leave before all seven required books are counted. The quest text directs you to return the books to Marshal Dughan. Its completion dialogue points you onward: the remaining titles were taken to Jasperlode Mine.

Jasperlode Mine: collect the Rare Books
For the Rare Books follow-up, search Jasperlode Mine for the two titles named in the quest: Geomancy for Curious Young Wizards and Arcane Explainer: Magical Stuff in Simple Words. Wowhead’s Forever comments point to Mother Fang and Geosculptor Yip in the mine. They also warn that Yip summons three earth elementals when he dies, so be ready for the fight to continue after the named target falls. If you are solo, watch your health and enemy levels; a group makes the adds and nearby cave enemies much easier to manage.
My Jasperlode run also ran into dangerous spiders, so do not assume every enemy in the cave is a routine kobold. Pull carefully, clear room to turn around, and avoid running deeper while multiple enemies are following. Check both quest items in your bags before you leave the mine.
Return the books to Brother Paxton at Northshire Abbey to complete Rare Books and choose your reward. Use the quest log and current in-game markers as your final check, since beta details and spawns can change between builds.
