Professions are getting a major expansion in WoW Forever. At the Deep Dive panel, Senior Game Designer Josh Greenfield said the game will add more than 600 recipes across professions and level ranges, while many existing recipes are also being overhauled. Blizzard’s stated aim is for profession choices to matter throughout progression, including at lower levels.
Cooking can help characters level
The cooking reveal may be the most immediately useful change for adventurers. Greenfield said almost all crafted food will grant a stat bonus along with a small experience boost. The example Well Fed buff shown at the panel increased experience from kills by 5%, alongside a small Intellect bonus.
In the shown example, eating for at least 10 seconds activated the buff for 15 minutes. The panel also displayed new dishes including Tasty Raptor Bites, Giant Scrambled Eggs, and Bat Hachee, with different stat and healing benefits. These details came from the Deep Dive demonstration; exact recipes and tuning may still change.
More than a cooking update
Blacksmithing examples ranged from low-level Crusader’s Boots to high-level Enriched Thorium Breastplate, illustrating how the new plans span character progression. The panel highlighted more than 600 recipes overall and said additional recipes, materials, and crafted items are planned after launch. It did not explain the sources of several new materials shown in the examples.
