Excavation Site: Wetlands Dungeon Guide: Location, Bosses & Beta Data | WoW Forever

Excavation Site: Wetlands beta guide

Excavation Site: Wetlands is one of the two new WoW Forever dungeons that becomes relevant when the beta’s level cap rises to 30. The announced level band is roughly 24–29, and current beta client data gives us a first look at its name, location, areas, and encounter roster. It is not yet a finished walkthrough: entrance details, quest chains, loot, and combat mechanics still need to be confirmed in testing.

At a glance

  • Reported level range: 24–29
  • Dungeon finder level: 26
  • Players: 5
  • Location: Wetlands, above or near Whelgar’s Excavation Site
  • Beta timing: phase two / the level-30 track, not the initial level-20 cap
  • Theme: a dangerous excavation tied to ancient relics, constructs, and the Wetlands dig sites

Current beta boss list

The current client table lists four encounters. These names are useful for search and planning, but they are still beta data rather than a promise of final order, mechanics, or tuning.

  • Saltspine
  • Shadetooth
  • Highland Horror
  • Relic Guardian

Client data also identifies four areas inside the instance: Lost Marsh, Stalker’s Thicket, Site of the Guardian, and Lost Dig Site. That layout points to a dungeon that moves from the surrounding Wetlands into a deeper archaeological complex, though the exact route between areas has not been documented yet.

Location and story setup

Blizzard’s announcement places the new instance above the familiar Whelgar’s Excavation area in the Wetlands. That gives players a useful geographic anchor near the established dwarven dig, but it does not yet confirm an exact entrance coordinate or prove that the outdoor camp and the dungeon share the same route.

The current picture is a relic site where excavation has uncovered more than the expedition expected. The names Lost Dig Site, Site of the Guardian, and Relic Guardian suggest a deeper artifact-and-construct story, while Saltspine and Shadetooth hint at threats in the marsh or nearby wilderness. Those are reasonable connections to the client data, not confirmed encounter mechanics.

Why it matters for the beta

Excavation Site: Wetlands is the clearest level-30 bridge dungeon in the new Forever lineup. Once the beta cap rises from 20 to 30, characters in the mid-to-high twenties should be able to use this instance as a leveling target alongside the lower-level Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron. The upper end of the reported band stops at 29, making the dungeon especially relevant before characters move into the next content tier.

For now, do not plan around unverified coordinates, faction requirements, attunement steps, quest rewards, or loot tables. Those details are exactly the kind of information that can change while the beta is opening new level bands.

What is still unconfirmed?

  • Exact entrance position and the safest route through the Wetlands
  • Faction access, quests, and any prerequisites
  • Boss order, encounter mechanics, and difficulty tuning
  • Loot tables, quest rewards, and dungeon-finder rules
  • Whether the reported 24–29 range is final at launch

Beta source notes

Blizzard’s Forever panel recap confirms the Wetlands excavation as part of the new dungeon lineup. The current level, boss, and area snapshot comes from the WoW Forever Talents beta database, cross-checked with WoW Forever Builds and the WoW Handbook Wetlands guide. Beta data can change between builds.
