Mage

Mages command arcane, fire, and frost magic. They are a strong fit for players who want ranged spellcasting, control over the pace of a fight, and a broad set of magical tools as they explore Azeroth.

Mage playstyle

Mages are spellcasters whose established toolkit rewards choosing the right school and spell for the situation. In the deliberate, tactical combat described for Forever, control and careful use of area damage remain important alongside dealing damage.

New race options

Orc Mage is one of the six combinations Blizzard confirmed at the Deep Dive. Alliance-aligned Skyborne can also choose Mage, while Horde-aligned Skyborne have Shaman as their faction-specific class. Blizzard has not announced Mage-specific mechanics for Orcs or Skyborne beyond these access options. See the Orc and Skyborne guides.

What is confirmed about Mage changes?

The Deep Dive does not present a complete Mage talent or ability list. The wider class direction keeps classes distinctive, moves selected class buffs into baseline kits, makes level 16 a talent milestone, and aims for all 27 trees to be viable group options. Specific numbers, rotations, and damage rankings remain unsettled until verified against the live build.
